My One & Only Hole In One

One afternoon my father-in-law and I decided to go golfing and there was a 9-hole golf course not from where he lived. So, we headed out to a course called Cut-N-Putt, owned by non-other than the country western legend, Willie Nelson.

This is a beautiful nine-hole course spanning the hilltops near the Pedernales River in western Travis County, Texas. I had just bought a nice set of dark blue Strata golf clubs. A 9-piece, right-hand set of clubs. I loved them and if I were to be honest, I played my best golf with these clubs. The cost was a little over 300 dollars and I ordered them off the Amazon website, I just love that free shipping. The strangest thing though is I kept getting looks from other golfers and could never figure out why. That day we were playing and another couple wanted to play as well so we said come on.

The first few holes went smoothly as I wasn’t hitting the too far left or right but mostly down the middle. One of my companion golfers asks me why I play with a women’s set of clubs. I said what? You must be kidding this is not a set of women’s clubs. So, she politely showed me where the women’s club was written on the shaft. My heart sank in embarrassment as well as my man card being forcibly revoked. Wow, was I embarrassed? I confessed that I was a beginner at golf and had no idea women like blue clubs as well. I bought them just not knowing but as I said I hit those clubs better than the man clubs I own today.

Along about the eighth hole, it was a par three at 147 yards. My eight iron was the club I could hit 150 yards, the flag was in the center of the green. It was my turn to go. I teed up the ball and performed my swagger as all golfers do. I swung and hit the ball. It felt so good as I watched the ball hit the green and bounced twice before it disappeared. I stood there in awe as I thought it could be a hole-in-one! I told everyone to go and look in the hole for me. It probably was a mistake, as it hit the back of the cup and rolled off the back of the green. They went to look for me and in fact, I had hit a hole-in-one. That was the happiest golf day of my life those, Strata clubs might have been Ladies Club but for some reason, I have never hit a hole-in-one with the man clubs I own today. And mine are Callaway Clubs now.

Strata Clubs are a great starter set. It does not matter if you’re a man or a woman. Depending on your budget Strata is a great starter set for anyone. However, if you are a more experienced golfer then there are many different brand names out there to choose from. Today’s golfers are wearing spike-less golf shoes and “Adidas” is a brand name that I find inexpensive but very comfortable to walk in for men. Some of the women Golfers I know have worn the same brand name “Adidas” and the reviews were the same. Comfortable to walk in and great for golfing.
